MARY ~ THE BONDSWOMAN

Come, rest your eyes upon her if you dare
And see her comeliness and the unmatched beauty of her crowning glory.
Come, gaze upon the loveliest and lowliest of Israel
And marvel at her purity that transcends the virgin snows
that crown the tallest peaks.
Come, behold her Whom Eternity breathed upon
and caused within her He Whom the whole world could not contain.
Come, lament with her upon whom the heavenly shades of night descended,
Whose Immaculate Heart was pierced crimson with a bleating sorrow
because her Love was hanged upon a tree.
Come, open your hearts to her whose enduring faith and love
surpasses the brightest glow of burning embers.
Praise the God of Life Who chose her from His Eternal Garden.
Come, seek and love she who exalts the Lord of Hosts
And reigns forever among the Diety.

Some diamonds dancing on a lake
 once studded white in winter's wake

Soon move aloft in August wind

 that scatters light in search of Him

Who gave us this and so much more

 that we might grow in knowledge

Pour into our souls and lift us up

 in awe. (1963)
